What's New on the Porsche 992.2 GT3 & GT3 Touring

Porsche enthusiasts will be thrilled by the latest updates to the Porsche 992.2 GT3 and GT3 Touring, two cars that redefine what it means to balance luxury with performance. Both models are second-generation 992s, sporting a range of visual and mechanical enhancements that push the boundaries of what a road-ready 911 can be.

Exterior Enhancements

From a distance, the updated GT3 Touring might look similar to its predecessor, but a closer inspection reveals a host of design tweaks. Both models feature a refreshed front and rear end, complete with an upgraded grille and subtle aerodynamic improvements. A notable update is the re-engineered rear spoiler, designed to preserve the clean, uninterrupted look of the Touring while enhancing downforce. The GT3 also benefits from a refined diffuser and rear-wheel well vents, both of which improve airflow, stability, and aerodynamics.

Lightweight Options and Wheels

For drivers seeking even greater performance, Porsche offers the “Leichtbau” (Lightweight) package on the Touring and the “Weissach” package on the GT3. The Lightweight package adds magnesium wheels, a carbon-fibre roof, and other lightweight elements, cutting around five kilos off the vehicle’s weight. Meanwhile, the Weissach package, available only on the GT3, includes a visible carbon-fibre roof and new gold-tone magnesium wheels that underscore its track-focused design.

Perhaps the most notable interior update on the 992.2 GT3 Touring is the optional rear seat addition – a first for the GT3 Touring line. Porsche has introduced new, folding carbon bucket seats for easier rear-seat access, and for added comfort, they are heated, addressing customer feedback. The GT3 retains its race-inspired Race-Tex interior, exuding a bold, sporty feel, while the Touring leans towards luxury with its bespoke leather finishes.

Engine and Performance

Under the bonnet, the 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated engine remains as thrilling as ever, with refined throttle bodies and camshafts that maintain its characteristic responsiveness. Shortened gear ratios inspired by the 911 ST deliver a snappier feel, making every drive feel engaging and powerful. Despite emissions regulations, the GT3 Touring's engine remains at the 510 bhp level, testament to Porsche's dedication to performance without compromise.

The suspension has been reworked using insights from Porsche's recent 911 ST, resulting in a more compliant ride on twisty roads without sacrificing the GT3's renowned track capability. The steering has also been revised, now with rear-wheel steering exclusively on the GT3, which heightens control and makes every corner a joy to navigate.

The 992.2 GT3 and GT3 Touring offer a blend of luxury, innovation, and raw power, ensuring that both drivers looking for a track-capable beast and those wanting a luxurious, high-performance daily driver will find something to love.
